Abstract This report describes the conceptual design of an 842-MW(t) process heat very high temperature reactor (VHTR) plant having a core outlet temperature of 850/sup 0/C (1562/sup 0/F). The reactor is a variation of the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) power plant concept. The report includes a description of the nuclear heat source (NHS) and of the balance of reactor plant (BORP) requirements. The design of the associated chemical process plant is not covered in this report. The reactor design is similar to a previously reported VHTR design having a 950/sup 0/C (1742/sup 0/F) core outlet temperature. This evaluation compares two configurations of the 1170 MWt HTGR-R: the 950/sup 0/C direct cycle (DC) plant vs. The 850/sup 0/C indirect cycle (IDC) baseline plant.
The subject evaluation is comprised of the following attachments: bases and assumptions for the cost and economic evaluations; capital cost and economic evaluation; major design differences; major technical issues; and drawings, as listed, for both plants. Drawing C-5001 is a composite plot plan which highlights the differences between the two plants. Pressure-volume-temperature-composition (P-V-T-X) data for brines are required to establish optimum operating conditions for the production of geothermal brine fields.
A compilation of density values is presented for vapor-saturated Na/sub 2/CO/sub 3/ solutions of 0 to 14 weight percent concentrations from 0/sup 0/C to 100/sup 0/C, for vapor-saturated K/sub 2/CO/sub 3/ solution of 0 to 50 weight percent concentrations from 0/sup 0/C to 100/sup 0/C, for vapor-saturated NaHCO/sub 3/ solutions of 0 to 8 weight percent concentrations at 18/sup 0/C, and for vapor-saturated KHCO/sub 3/ solutions of 0 to 35 weight percent concentrations from 0/sup 0/ to 50/sup 0/C. Pressure-volume-temperature-composition (P-V-T-X) data for brines are required to establish optimum operating conditions for the production of geothermal brine fields.
Cdtech eb. Precise thermodynamic data derived from the volumetric properties of the brines are prerequisite for chemical and reservoir modeling of geothermal brine systems. A compilation of density values is presented therein for vapor-saturated hydrochloric acid of 0 to 40 weight percent concentrations from --5/sup 0/C to 100/sup 0/C, for aqueous vapor-saturated ferrous chloride of 0 to 35 weight percent concentrations at 15/sup 0/C and 18/sup 0/C, and for aqueous vapor-saturated ferric chloride of 0 to 50 weight percent concentrations from 0/sup 0/C to 35/sup 0/C.
